PHOTOGRAPHER
"With an an eye for 'the ordinary', Susan
Bullough makes it uniquely special and then uses photography
as an effective bridge between different cultures and communities."
As a photographer, her work has been exhibited in galleries,
libraries, education centers, schools and restaurants in
Europe and India. Her photographs have appeared in a number
of books, anthologies, journals, magazines and newspapers.
The books include, 'DANGS, Journeys Into The Heartland'
and 'KUTCH,Triumph Of The Spirit', 'People
Unlike Us' and 'Call Of The Blue Mountains'.
After
producing a video titled 'Life
and Crafts of India', Susan also researched and designed
educational packs on the
Banjaras and Indian
Jewellery in which her photography is an important educational
tool. Both of these projects relied on accurate portrayals
of the subjects for Europeans who would have little experience
with the Banjara's or the diversity of life in India.

Susan
continues
to travel into the
interiors of India and other parts of the world to research projects
and returns to Europe to share her experiences.
Through
these travels Susan has interacted with people from many different
communities and observed their ways of life. This, alongside her
keen eye for portraits, has resulted in some uniquely memorable
images.
"I
discovered that a lot of art forms in Europe have been influenced
by Indian arts. Plus, having had many Indian friends I have always
felt close to this culture. It has been a wonderful journey of
discovery."
